The CGMA Finance Leadership Program seamlessly blends learning and assessments, to ensure that you understand key topics and can apply your new skills before you move on to more advanced business concepts. The intelligent design of the CGMA program adjusts to you, so you can learn at your own pace and build upon your unique knowledge and experience with complementary skills and tools you can use immediately.
You will access the CGMA program through the website, www.CGMA.org Your personal dashboard will track and report your progress through the CGMA program, and guide you throughout your experience. Your dashboard features a Program Learning Map, which displays the specific knowledge and skills you will master through CGMA program. Each level of the CGMA program encompasses 10-20 different Competency Areas. Each Competency Area covers a variety of specific skillsets, tools and topics you will master.
The CGMA program features ongoing knowledge checks and interactive exercises designed to assess your knowledge, reinforce your learning and optimize your experience. Topic Assessments will test your proficiency in specific concepts. When you have successfully completed all Topic Assessments associated with an individual Competency Area, you will complete a Business Simulation Assessment. This is a short, scenario based assessment that will challenge you to perform business tasks related to the Competency Area. Once you have successfully completed all the learning and assessments for the level, including the Business Simulation Assessments, you are ready for the CGMA Case Study Exam.
Each level of the CGMA program culminates with a Case Study Exam, a unique assessment designed to test your mastery of the critical competencies. The Case Study Exam will challenge you to apply all your knowledge and skills to deliver insights and make decisions in a real-world business situation. The Case Study Exams are administered by Pearson VUE at testing centers all over the world.
The CGMA Finance Leadership program is designed to prepare you for the Case Study Exam - and any future business challenge you’ll face - with the skills, the experience, and the confidence you need. You decide when you’re ready to take the exam. You can take the Case Study Exam as many times as you choose, but you must successfully pass the required exams to earn the CGMA designation.

The CGMA program offers several different entry routes, so you can begin the program at the right place for you, and start building news skills from day one. The CGMA program adapts to you as you progress through the program, recognizing your strengths and weaknesses, and guiding you toward new skills. The intelligent design of the CGMA program builds on what you already know, so you can focus your time and energy on developing new knowledge and skills. The innovative technology was built to optimize your learning experience, offering a more personal, efficient path for you to earn the CGMA designation.
The CGMA Finance Leadership Program is online and self-paced, so can learn at your convenience, from anywhere in the world. Your personal dashboard will help you monitor your progress through the program, and keep track of the new skills you have mastered. You are encouraged to set a target date to complete each level of the CGMA program and sit for the corresponding Case Study Exam. Your personal dashboard will help you manage your time effectively to reach your target date. You can work at your own pace, and take as much time as necessary to complete the CGMA program, however, you must maintain an active subscription to access the CGMA program. There are two subscriptions plans available and you can choose the subscription plan that works for you.

Yes. The CGMA Finance Leadership Program features three separate levels, encompassing all the critical business competencies, from the fundamental business principles to the most advanced topics. The Operational Level introduces essential business concepts and provides a strong foundation in the technical skills in finance and accounting. The Management Level builds on these core skills and business acumen, with more advanced concepts, tools and frameworks. The Strategic Level completes your professional skill set, with new insights and a valuable toolkit to help you lead at the enterprise level.
Your entry route to the CGMA program is determined by your education and experience. You will progress sequentially from one level to the next, to build on foundational skills with more advanced skills. You can review all material covered in previous competency areas/ levels should you need to a refresher on that information.
The CGMA program is accessible online, and you can access the program on a tablet or mobile device, however, the CGMA was designed primarily for desktop devices. Some functionality is not optimized for mobile devices. We strongly recommend using a laptop or desktop to complete the CGMA program.
We currently do not offer an app for the CGMA program.
The CGMA program features adaptive learning technology, which uses real-time analytics to create a more personalized learning experience. The adaptive technology currently requires you to be online when studying.
The CGMA Program is currently available in English.
The CGMA program is designed to be entirely self-paced and user-driven, with all of the resources you need to master new knowledge, skills and experience. The program does not currently offer tutors to support questions about the program content.
Your personal learning dashboard tracks your progress through the CGMA program, detailing which skills and tools you have mastered, and what areas you still need to complete in preparation for the Case Study Exam.
You can also set a target date to sit for the Case Study Exam, and your personal learning dashboard will determine how much progress you need to make each week to reach that goal.
The CGMA program offers a variety of entry routes, based on your individual education and career achievements. The program features three separate levels, starting with the more foundational knowledge and building toward more complex skills and tools. Your recommended entry route for the CGMA program is determined based on your education and experience. You must complete the required learning and assessments for each level associated with your entry route.
Each level of the CGMA program features a variety of competency areas for you to master. You do not need to master these competencies in any specific order; you are free to study in whatever order you like. Your personal learning dashboard tracks your progress toward completing the program. The CGMA program will recommend topics, but you have the freedom to explore different competency areas and move throughout the program. You must complete all of the learning for a competency area before you can take the business simulation assessment for that competency area.
Each Level of the CGMA program features a number of competency areas. Each competency area includes practical tools, skills and frameworks that you must master before you can earn the CGMA designation. There is a business simulation assessment at the end of each competency area, where you will be challenged to apply what you have learned in a fictional business scenario.
The business simulation assessment is designed to test your mastery of the tools, skills, and frameworks that you learn as you progress through the CGMA program. You must complete the learning within each competency area before you can undertake the business simulation assessment. The CGMA program features adaptive learning technology which helps to determine when you have demonstrated the necessary proficiency to take the business simulation assessment for each competency area.
The business simulations are designed to test your mastery of specific knowledge and skills. If you don’t pass a business simulation assessment, you can retake the assessment. There is no limit on the number of times you can take a specific business simulation assessment. There are, however, multiple variations of each business simulation assessment to ensure you do not take the same assessment more than once. We strongly recommend that you review the competency area prior to retaking the business simulation assessment.
The CGMA program features adaptive learning technology, which creates a personalized learning experience. The adaptive technology tracks your progress in real-time, and guides you through the program based on your performance and proficiency.
If you struggle to master a more advanced topic, the adaptive learning system may direct you to one of the more foundational concepts, to help you master the essentials before moving on to more advanced topic. The adaptive learning technology may also direct you to content that presents the topic from a different perspective that may better suite your learning style.
If you don’t pass a business simulation assessment at the end of a competency area, the adaptive learning technology will direct you to the topic or topics which you still need to master to pass the assessment.
