Your commitment to learning and development throughout your career ensures that you will:

  • Stay up to date on the latest business topics
  • Expand your knowledge, experience and business acumen
  • Refine your skillset and develop new skills
  • Remain competitive in the job market
  • Maintain the integrity and credibility of the CGMA designation and the profession.

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement for CIMA members and AICPA Associate members does not prescribe a minimum number of professional development hours.  Instead, you are encouraged you pursue professional development activities that will help you advance your career and maintain the CGMA standard of excellence. You are required to record and report your professional development efforts. In addition, you are required to reflect on the impact and effectiveness of your professional development activities.

If you are a CGMA designation holder with Regular AICPA membership (i.e. a currently or formerly licensed U.S. CPA), you will follow the AICPA Membership CPE Requirements. If you are a currently licensed CPA, you are also responsible for complying with all applicable CPE requirements, rules and regulations of your respective state board of accountancy.

The are no requirements to recertify your CGMA designation. Once you earn the CGMA designation, you are only required to meet your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement, follow the CGMA Code of Ethics and maintain your membership with the AICPA or CIMA. You are not required to retake any exam or complete any recertification after you have earned the CGMA designation.
