Continuing professional development for CGMA designation holders – Relevance and Value

Commitment:
The CGMA designation carries with it a lifelong commitment to maintaining relevance and excellence, and both the AICPA and CIMA are dedicated to providing support to CGMA designation holders in their careers, wherever in the world they work or reside. Continuing professional education/development (CPE/CPD) is crucial for all CGMA designation holders to ensure they maintain the technical and professional competence expected of them by employers, and to assist in their career progression.

Support:
In support of lifelong learning, the CGMA Competency Framework is designed to help CGMAs and their employers understand the knowledge requirements and assess the skills needed for both current and desired roles. The framework is underpinned by the need for objectivity, integrity and ethical behaviour, and reaffirms the commitment to continuously acquire new knowledge and skills.

A planned reflective approach should be taken to professional development and AICPA | CIMA Competency and Learning is an online destination to help assess needs and source relevant management accounting learning content (including unique CGMA resources)  to manage objectives and record outcomes and progress via a personalised learning plan.

Responsibility:
All CGMA designation holders remain individually responsible for maintaining records of their CPE/CPD as required by the AICPA or CIMA as appropriate; likewise, compliance requirements continue to be prescribed via the respective membership bodies. Details can be found at:
