About 59% of new CFOs were promoted from within their companies in 2015 and 2016, according to research from Korn Ferry on the 1,000 largest US companies. That’s up from 51% in prior years, as David McCann writes for CFO.com – and the trend of internal promotions may continue with an improving economy. “With the CFO market stabilised, there will be enough time for succession plans to come full cycle,” says Bryan Proctor of Korn Ferry. Internal promotion can be less risky, McCann writes, and it’s facilitated by leaders who have confidence in their employees.
