High tariffs may increase the new business focus on artificial intelligence


An improving employment economy is making workers more expensive, pushing businesses to more aggressively manage labour and embrace “labour-disruptive technology,” as economist Michael McDonough writes for Bloomberg Intelligence. The number of company transcripts mentioning “artificial intelligence” has increased tenfold since 2014, while technologies to replace cashiers and truck drivers have made big splashes recently.
