HR pros aren’t impressed by leadership’s people skills


A recent survey of human resources professionals published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development found that 62% of respondents rated their senior leadership’s conflict-management skills as “ineffective.” The HR function, meanwhile, has its own set of challenges. Respondents identified the demand for flexible working and the changing demographics of the workforce, including ageing employees, as two key drivers of change in their organisations. Finally, half of those surveyed said that some management responsibilities had passed from HR to line managers, but only 44% of those organisations reportedly gave formal training to support the change.
