Today, organisations’ value chains - the series of steps they take to deliver their products or services - include a multitude of business relationships which impact the bottom line.

The boundaries of value creating activities are becoming extended and blurred. There is now greater reliance on alternative forms of sourcing and multiple business partnerships. As a consequence, the analysis used as the basis for value chain decision making must broaden.
