Few companies have taken on more than one data analytics initiative, and part of the problem might be that many have not developed a “coherent and sustainable process” for such projects, according to a new paper in the Journal of Business Research. The authors argue companies should create a Big Data implementation protocol. This process might start, they suggest, with the definition of the questions to be answered and opportunities to be sought. Once in progress, the analysis should document its choices and assumptions, allowing others to repeat the process later. And once the project’s complete, the authors argue, management must commit to turning the findings into organisational changes as appropriate.
