Twitter, Facebook the undoing of 11 British DWP workers

January 15 2013

The UK’s Department for Work & Pensions apparently wants its workers focused more on work and pensions and less on their friend requests and retweets. According to The Guardian, 116 workers have been disciplined, including 11 fired, since 2009 for misusing social media. A DWP spokeswoman said, “The DWP has clear guidelines for staff on the use of the internet and social media.” So, it’s probably not safe to retweet one of the DWP’s official tweets while at work, huh?
